At the time of applying for the scholarship, Jan was a final-year student at a high school in Kraków, whose passion for the sciences led him to achieve, among other results, 9th place in the Polish Mathematical Olympiad. Thanks to his early achievements, he was admitted to a tutoring program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Jagiellonian University and participated in numerous scientific camps. Alongside his academic work, he also competed successfully in alpine skiing at the national level.
With the support of the RBF Foundation, Jan is currently a third-year Bachelor of Science student at one of France’s most prestigious universities – École Polytechnique in Paris. He is enrolled in an interdisciplinary program leading to a double bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science. He gained research experience during an internship at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) on the INODE neural networks project, as well as through a research project at the Sorbonne. He also spent the last six months on an exchange at EPFL in Switzerland, where he defended his bachelor’s thesis.
Jan is actively involved in the academic community, leading student seminars and serving as staff at mathematics camps for gifted youth in Poland. His engagement, however, extends beyond academia – in Paris, he volunteers to support people experiencing homelessness. As a member of the association “Krzysiek Pomaga Pomagać,” he also assists individuals recovering from accidents. Additionally, he works to strengthen the Polish academic community, co-organizing events such as the International Congress of Polish Student Associations.
