Fireside Chat with Tomasz Śluarczyk - MIT, Northwestern and economy

– And there was nothing more you could do?

– Unfortunately, no. I wanted to.

This is one of the most memorable answers in the entire Fireside Chats series.

Rafał Brzoska's guest is Tomasz Ślusarczyk – a Rafał Brzoska Foundation scholarship recipient, MIT graduate, doctoral candidate at Northwestern University, and one of the most outstanding young mathematicians of his generation.

The three-time winner of the Junior Mathematical Olympiad, two-time winner of the Mathematical Olympiad, and medalist of the International Mathematical Olympiad and International Physics Olympiad discusses his journey from his first Olympic successes to his research in game theory and mathematical economics. In the conversation, we discuss, among other things: - why MIT was his dream university from the beginning, - what it's like to study two majors and two minors simultaneously, - why mathematics leads to economics today, - what game theory is and how it applies to business, - how mathematics, data analysis, and artificial intelligence are changing decision-making. Finally, Tomasz asks Rafał Brzoska about the role of mathematics and AI in managing one of the largest logistics companies in Europe.

This is an inspiring conversation about ambition, science, and the practical application of knowledge to solve real-world problems.
