The Rafał Brzoska Foundation creates opportunities for brilliant young minds to flourish and become the architects of tomorrow. This is far more than financial aid; it is a strategic investment in intellectual capital designed to reshape the future of both Poland and the global stage.
On January 8, 2025, at the Museum of Polish History, the Foundation held its annual scholar gathering. These young leaders, bound by a shared passion and belief in the power of intellect, presented projects that defy traditional academic boundaries.
“We have individuals from the worlds of art and music, as well as specialists in medicine and law. We even have a designer of space capsule interiors. Our scholars include the first Polish woman at NASA… These are innovators and inventors – for example, a fifteen-year-old who won a Grand Prix for inventions assisting people with disabilities and is now building his own Mars rover. There are no limits; any exceptional individual can realize their dreams in any field” – says Rafał Brzoska.
The Foundation acts not just as a patron, but as a partner in the pursuit of ambitious goals. “It’s not about giving them a fishing rod, but teaching them to fish in an ocean of possibilities” – Rafał Brzoska remarks, emphasizing that the key lies in networking and mentorship. Inspired by the philanthropic work of Omenaa Mensah, the foundation’s focus grew from the personal experiences of President Rafał Brzoska, who, as a young man, could not rely on such a support system.
The recruitment process is a rigorous, multi-stage journey where passion, determination, and vision are valued above grades alone. “We aren’t just looking for the best; we are looking for those who have the courage to be different” – highlights Omenaa Mensah, noting the foundation’s commitment to diversity and interdisciplinary thinking. Over three years, the foundation has reviewed over 3,000 applications, selecting nearly 60 scholars currently studying at 43 universities across 12 countries.
Rafał Brzoska is vocal about the need for a revolution in the Polish education system. In his view, the solution lies in moving away from rigid patterns toward an individualized approach for every student. “We must stop aiming for the average and start investing in those who exceed mediocrity” – he urges, pointing to global leaders who prioritize intellectual capital.
These investments include creating specialized educational tracks, collaborating with world-renowned universities, and building an ecosystem that fosters innovation. Brzoska believes this is the only way Poland can maintain a competitive edge and build a strong, knowledge-based economy.
“This project is dedicated to ambitious, hardworking, and gifted young people. We are cultivating our country’s future elite – its ambassadors and patriots. Even if they build careers abroad, I hope they will one day return to develop their projects in Poland, elevating our nation’s standing on the international stage” – says Omenaa Mensah, Vice President of the Foundation.
The Rafał Brzoska Foundation is a story of how dreams become reality when provided with the right tools. It is a manifesto proving that Poland has the potential to be a global forge for talent – an investment in a future that is already bearing fruit and inspiring the next generation to achieve the impossible.
